Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory Review | Geek Revolt

GR's DeShaun Zollicoffer writes:
Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory is the follow-up to last year's Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2. It's timing couldn't be better. We're on the verge of a bloody console war and this series is all about console wars... and hyperactive anime heroines. Victory takes things to the 80s, though, so don't expect any references to Sony and Microsoft's upcoming battle.

"NISAs very high quality translation and dub work makes the humor of the writing really pop out. I feel as if over the course of these three games, I have gotten to know these girls and their personalities really well. This series have quickly become one of my favorites in gaming due to the uniqueness of the story and setting. This game may not be for everyone; if you are not a fan of anime style games or JRPGs you will likely want to pass on this title. If you are a fan of this style of game, or you love a good JRPG, you will definitely want to pick up Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory as soon as possible."

IGN:Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory completely submerges you in its woeful dialogue and barely lets you up for air. If it would just shut up for a bit, it might have a case as a respectable RPG adventure. Sadly, a decent combat system and a mildly amusing premise do not a good game make, and humble ambitions do little to excuse how poorly these characters, quests, and graphics are crafted.

| Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory Review Not So Serious - The Koalition

The Koalition writes: "Parody is a difficult concept to master, no matter how long you've been doing it. Consistent and even funny parody does not necessarily make it good or thoughtful parody, which is the ultimate problem facing Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory. The fifth installment in the Sony exclusive JRPG franchise stays in line with the series' traditions of poking fun at itself and even the game industry as a whole, often in very funny ways, but the core game at the heart of it all is just not as deep or engaging as I was hoping for, which could have really pushed this one over the edge."
